MASA's Charity Auction

MASA staff and GBMers will be putting up items/services (cooking food, teaching sports, etc.) for auction and all the proceeds will be donated to AALDEF (Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund) to help fight against Asian-American hate crimes. Be sure to BRING SOME CASH because minimum bid is $5. You can buy items/services with your friends too so bring them along to split the price and win better auction prizes.

Also, if you or anyone you know has something you would like to put up for auction this Wednesday, please fill out the application below and email it to Jennifer @ jenatran727@gmail.com by midnight on Monday May 3rd.

MASA's Awareness Night

MASA's Awareness Night

This quarter, MASA will be hosting an awareness event where our focus will be on Asian American hate crimes. For this event, we are going to present information on the many incidents of violence being directed specifically towards Asian American people, as well as what is being done to minimize this. We will go over several known stories of Asian American hate crimes and even those that have not been made well known to date.

It is extremely important to get this information out and educate everyone about what is happening because first and foremost, this is all about us. In the past few decades, it has been proven that Asian Americans have been the fastest growing target of hate crimes.

During the event, there will be activities as well as a screening of the film, Vincent Who? We will have a guest speaker, Kit Myers from the Ethnic Studies Department, who will come in and empower us to take action on this matter. MASA is also planning on having a donation box for the organization Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF).

So please come out and support!!!
